Ohio is essentially square: 220 miles wide and 220 miles long.

A serpent mound in Warren County, likely built around 900 AD, is the largest and best preserved effigy mound in the US.

In 1884 coal miners in the Hocking district set fire to several coal mines to protest terrible working conditions and pay.  The coal in those mines is still burning.

The world's largest sycamore tree is at Jeromesville: it's 129' tall, with a crown that spreads 105' and a trunk circumference of 48½".
