Connecticut rises from sea level (Long Island Sound) to 2,379’ (a point on the Mass. border on the south slope of Mt. Frissell).

Connecticut is 12.6% water.

In 1639, the New Haven Colony signed its own constitution – the 1st U.S. document to say the government gets power from the people.

Conn. didn’t have a state constitution until 1818 but instead was governed by the General Assembly.

In 1817, Conn. established the 1st school for the deaf in the U.S.

Conn. has an official state hero - Nathan Hale and state heroine - Prudence Crandall.  (No information on why he gets a statue and she gets a painting.)
