today's route the orange line peters out because it can't mark on tape very well - I had to tape the map together at that point to keep a hole there from tearing any more than it already had |
Welcome to Nevada - The Silver State
Nevada - my 36th state |
Only 4 miles of today's drive was actually in Nevada. Tonight's campground, though named Reno KOA, is actually about 10 miles west of Reno at the Boomtown Casino in Verdi.
Once I checked in, I found the campsite was supposed to be head-in, so I'd be facing a short wall of dirt in order to have my utilities on the right side for plugging in. And it was on a slope, so sitting like that would also have the head of my bed somewhat lower than the foot, meaning I'd need to sleep backwards in my bed to make my tummy digest properly. I didn't want to do either of those things.
So I turned around and faced into the campground, which would have been okay except that emphasized the size of the slope, and I knew we wouldn't be comfortable for long. I had a reservation here for 4 nights, and I didn't much want to be uncomfortable all that time.
So I spent quite a bit of time jockeying the RV around, ending up with it almost sideways in the space. That was better but still not a great situation. But by then it was late in the afternoon, the dogs wanted a walk - and deserved one - and I was ready to call it a day.
